This is the chum we use to attract great white sharks. They're sardines and we use them because they're so oily. We have to put on our boots and smash them with our feet. Then we add ocean water and slowly throw that into the ocean. Quite tedious and tiring, but hopefully worth it in the end.
This is Africa's Seal Island. This is where a number of documentaries and television shows have been based off of. It's so much closer to the shore than I anticipated. This is where I have the best chance of seeing a great white breach the water in search of food. The best times are either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

This is the boat we work on. The guy in the center is our Captain. Katie (on the right) is smashing the sardines with her feet to get the water nice and bloody. I am currently in the crows nest searching for nearby sharks.
The boat is 20 feet long. Today, the three interns from Denmark all got sick with the three American interns held strong. Big day for our country.
